Ⅱ. Eligibility Criteria

1. General Requirements

  - Must not be subject to any disqualifications under the Korean Private School Act or Dongguk University’s faculty appointment regulations.

  - Must hold a doctoral degree in the relevant field (including candidates expected to obtain their degree by [August 31, 2026].

  - Must understand and be willing to embrace the Buddhist principles that the founding philosophy of the University (Buddhist values)

  - In accordance with Article 4-3 of the Decree on the Appointment of Educational Officials, applicants holding a bachelor's degree from specific institutions may be restricted from applying to certain departments to prevent academic homogeneity.

3. Research Achievement Evaluation Criteria
  1) Evaluation Period: From April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026 (2 years)
  2) Eligible Publications
   - Academic journals officially published (with an assigned issue/volume) or accepted (with an assigned DOI) within the evaluation period.
   - Manuscripts scheduled for publication between [April 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026] will be considered within the evaluation period if a DOI was assigned by [March 31, 2026]. In such cases, the publication date must be entered as [March 31, 2026] in the application system.

2. Recommendation by College Committee

  - Candidates Reviewed: All online applicants.

  - Schedule: May 2026

  - Evaluation: Review of academic background, career history, and research capability.

  - Note: Individual interviews with the host department faculty will be conducted separately.

 

3. Document Submission

  - Candidates Reviewed: Only those recommended by the College Recruitment Committee.

  - Method: In-person or by postal mail

    ○ Original degree certificates and transcripts for all degrees
         ☞ Foreign degrees: apostille or consular authentication required
         ☞ Chinese degree: certification from CHSI required

    ○ Original career/employment certificates for all listed positions

    ○ Original certificates for awards or licenses (if applicable)

    ○ Copy of passport and copy of Alien Registration Card(ARC)

    ○ Certificate of Buddhist Faith (optional; only for Jogye Order members)

  - Important Notes:

   ☞ Submitted documents will not be returned.

   ☞ Certificates issued in Korea from April 1, 2026 onward will be accepted.

   ☞ Final appointees must submit original documents. For documents not in English, a notarized Korean or English translation must be attached.

   ☞ Applicants are responsible for any disadvantages caused by errors or omissions in the application form. All documents will be verified. If any document is found to be false, the appointment may be canceled - even after hiring.

   ☞ Applicants must cooperate with any verification requests from the university. Failure to do so may be considered evidence of discrepancies and could lead to cancellation of the appointment.

Ⅳ. Appointment Terms and Guidelines
1. Appointees will be employed under a fixed-term contract and will be evaluated for renewal.
   - Appointment date: September 1, 2026
   - Salary: Performance-based annual salary reflecting research achievements.
2. Dongguk University reserves the right not to make an appointment if no suitable candidates are identified.
3. Each applicant may apply for only one field.
4. Submission of false documents will result in immediate disqualification and cancellation of appointment.
 
 
Ⅴ. FAQs: Applications and Evaluation

Q1. What is the ‘Verification Number’ in the application system?
A: It’s your personal password. Please choose a number that you can easily remember.

Q2. Are KCI(Korea Citation Index) journals recognized in all fields?
A: No. They are only recognized in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts/Physical Education. They are not recognized in STEM fields.

Q3. Are SCOPUS journals accepted?
A: Only in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts/Physical Education. SCOPUS journals are not accepted in  STEM fields.

Q4. Are not-yet-published papers accepted?
A: Yes, if a DOI has been assigned by March 31, 2026. Papers scheduled for publication between April 2026 and August 2026 may be accepted upon review by the committee.

Q5. Are any documents required in addition to online submission?
A: No. All academic and career documents must be uploaded to the online system.

Q6. Are conference papers recognized?
A: No. Conference papers are not recognized.

Q7. Are scholarly books accepted?
A: No, scholarly books are not recognized in any field.
