Ⅱ. Eligibility Criteria

1. General Requirements

  - No disqualifications under the Private School Act and Dongguk University’s faculty appointment regulations.

  - Possession of a doctoral degree in the relevant field (including those expected to obtain the degree by February 28, 2026).

  - Understanding and willingness to participate in the Buddhist principles that underpin the university's founding philosophy.

  - In accordance with Article 4-3 of the Decree on the Appointment of Educational Officials, applicants with a bachelor's degree from certain universities may be restricted from applying to specific departments.

 

2. Minimum Research Achievements and Experience Requirements

3. Research Achievement Evaluation Criteria
  1) Evaluation Period: From October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2025 (2 years)
  2) Eligible Publications
   - Academic journals published (issue/volume assigned) or accepted (DOI assigned) within the period.
   - Manuscripts with publication dates set between October 1, 2025 and February 28, 2026 will be considered as within the evaluation period if DOI was assigned by September 30, 2025, and the publication date shall be recorded as September 30, 2025.

1. Application Submission

   - How to Apply: Online submission via Dongguk University Seoul Campus website (Click the "APPLY ONLINE" button above)
     ※ The application link will only be active during the application period.

   - Required Uploads:

        ○ Faculty Application Form: Fill out online and upload photo (under 200KB)

           ☞ Enter detailed major for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees (as stated on certificate)

           ☞ Combine all academic and career certificates into one PDF file and upload under "Academic/Career Documents"

           ☞ Foreign degrees: scanned copy accepted. Non-English documents must be accompanied by a translation. Apostille or consular authentication will be required upon appointment.

2. Recommendation by College Committee

  - Target: All online applicants

  - Schedule: November 2025

  - Evaluation: Academic background, career histroy, and research capability

  - Note: Individual interviews with the host faculty will be conducted separately.

 
3. Screening by University (Central Faculty Recruitment Committee)

  - Target: Candidates recommended by colleges

  - Schedule: December 2025

  - Evaluation: Qualification verification and assessment of research capacity

  - Results: Notification by email

 

4. Final Approval

  - Target: Candidates who pass the university screening 

  - Schedule: To be announced(after January, 2026)

 

5. Final Appointment & Document Submission

  - Target: Final selected candidates

    ○ Original degree certificates and transcripts for all degrees

         ☞ Foreign degrees: apostile or consular authentication required

         ☞ Chinese degree: certification from CHSI required

    ○ Origianal career/employment certificates for all listed positions

    ○ Original certifiacates for awards or licenses (if applicable)

    ○ Copy of passport and copy of Alien Registration Card(ARC)

    ○ Certificate of Buddhist Faith (optional; only for Jogye Order members)

  - Important Notes:

   ☞ Submitted documents will not be returned.

   ☞ Certificates issued in Korea from December 2025 onward will be accepted.

   ☞ Final appointees must submit original documents. For documents not in English, a notarized Korean or English translation must be attached.

   ☞ Applicants are responsible for any disadvantages caused by errors or omissions in the application form. All documents will be verified. If any document is found to be false, the appointment may be canceled - even after hiring.

   ☞ Applicants must cooperate with any verification requests from the university. Failure to do so may be considered evidence of discrepancies and could lead to cancellation of the appointment.

 

Ⅴ. Appointment Terms and Guidelines
1. Appointees will be employed under a fixed-term contract and evaluated for renewal prior to its expiration
   - Appointment date: January 1, 2026
   - Salary: Annual salary based on performance, reflecting research achievements
2. Dongguk University reserves the right not to make appointment if no suitable candidates are identified.
3. Each applicant may apply for only one field.
4. Submission of duplicate or false documents will result in immediate disqualification.
 
 
Ⅵ. FAQs: Applications and Evaluation

Q1. What is the ‘Verification Number’ in the application system?
A: It’s your personal password. Please choose a number that you can easily remember.

Q2. Are KCI(Korea Citation Index) journals recognized in all fields?
A: No. They are only recognized in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts/Physical Education. They are not recognized in STEM fields.

Q3. Are SCOPUS journals accepted?
A: Only in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts/Physical Education. SCOPUS journals are not accepted in  STEM fields.

Q4. Are not-yet-published papers accepted?
A: Yes, if a DOI has been assigned by September 30, 2025. Papers scheduled for publication between October 2025 and February 2026 may be accepted upon review by the committee.

Q5. Are any documents required in addition to online submission?
A: No. All academic and career documents must be uploaded to the online system.

Q6. Are conference papers recognized?
A: No. Conference papers are not recognized.

Q7. Are scholarly books accepted?
A: No, scholarly books are not recognized in any field.
