	The objective of the Major lies in understanding the history and ideas of Seon academically, objectively, and systematically through study of the historical documents of Seon Buddhism, in adopting the spirit of Seon Buddhism to oneself through practicing the exercise of Buddhist meditation, and in establishing the base for further learning and personal growth.

	●	SEO 201 Studies of Seon Overall outline of Seon (Zen) studies such as history, essence, and practices of Seon (Zen) in order to understand the basic and general concept of Seon (Zen) Buddhism.
	●	SEO 202 History of China Seon Buddhism This course studies the history of Seon (Zen) Buddhism, which was established as a religion of daily life.
	●	SEO 203 Introductory of Seon Scripture This course is to read the major Seon (Zen) literature derived from Seon (Zen) thoughts of Seon (Zen) masters, and also to improve students’ interpretation of original texts reading. It seeks to be able to grasp the flow of Seon (Zen) thoughts and apply them to actual Seon (Zen) practice.
	●	SEO 204 Special Lecture on Seon Buddhism This class aims to understand the formation and essence of Seon (Zen) thoughts by studying the Diamond Sutra and Platform Sutra, scriptures of Seon (Zen) Buddhism.
	●	SEO 205 History of Korean Seon Buddhism This course is to make a systematic investigation of Seon Buddhism in Korea throughout the Silla, Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties.
	●	SEO 206 History of Seon Thought This course approaches and understands the history of Seon (Zen) and its thoughts as they were derived from India
	●	SEO 207 Mahayana Buddhism and Seon Thought This course intends to understand Seon (Zen) spirit and practices by studying Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, and to apply this understanding to self-improvement.
	●	SEO 301 Seon Practice I This class seeks for each student to cultivate oneself with Seon (Zen) thoughts, meditation and practice.
	●	SEO 302 Culture of Seon Buddhism The purpose of this course is to understand the religion and the wisdom such as the art of the tea ceremony, the ordinary daily life of Seon (Zen) culture as it was formed, based on thoughts of Seon (Zen), etc.
	●	SEO 303 Reading in Seon Words Reading of original texts for easy access to the world of Seon (Zen) and its recorded sayings.
	●	SEO 304 The Seon Thoughts of Korean Buddhism This class aims to study and acquire Seon (Zen) thoughts of Seon (Zen) masters such as Pojo, Taego, and Naong who laid the foundation of Korean Seon (Zen).
	●	SEO 305 Thoughts of the Masters of Seon This course intends to understand the thoughts of Seon (Zen) masters by selective readings of Chinese Seon (Zen) literature, and to improve the ability to read Chinese Seon (Zen) references.
	●	SEO 306 Seon Literature This course aims to understand general Seon (Zen) literatury works such as recorded sayings by Seon (Zen) masters, poems of enlightenment and transmission which were formed based on the thoughts of Seon (Zen).
	●	SEO 307 Regulation for a Seon Temple Students study and acquire the life of Seon (Zen) meditation through rules which became the basic example of Seon (Zen) life and self-cultivation.
	●	SEO 308 Jogye Seon Orderology This course is to learn thoughts and practices of Jogye by studying Seon (Zen) masters from the later period of Goryeo Dynasty to the early period of Joseon Dynasty.
	●	SEO 401 Reading of the Transmission History This course proposes to investigate literatures of Seon (Zen) history such as Bolimjeon, Jodangjib and Jeondeungrok in order to grasp the history and methods of dharma transmission.
	●	SEO 402 Exercise on Seon Studies I Presentation by individual research is required. Patriarchal Seon (Zen) can be studied through the recorded sayings by Ma-tsu and Lin-chi.
	●	SEO 403 Philosophy of Seon Buddhism This is to analyze Tataghata-garbha, Mind-only, Lankavatara Sutra, Awakening Faith and practical logic of Seon (Zen) from various viewpoints of Seon (Zen) in order to seek the logical and philosophical understanding of Seon (Zen).
	●	SEO 404 Directions of Seon Practice This aims for students to experience the thoughts of Seon (Zen) through meditation and practice.
	●	SEO 405 Exercise on Seon Studies II Presentation by individual research is required. This class plans for students to understand systematically, the thoughts of Korean Seon (Zen), its practice and practical method through original texts.
